The Best Minute: Vacation prep, choosing to remain the same, and making the right decision

2 QUOTES FROM OTHERS

I. David Allen on preparing for vacation all the time:

“Most people feel best about their work the week before their vacation, but it’s not because of the vacation itself. What do you do the last week before you leave on a big trip? You clean up, close up, clarify, and renegotiate all your agreements with yourself and others. I just suggest that you do this weekly instead of yearly.”

II. Laurie Buchanan on choosing the status quo:

“Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing.”

2 IDEAS FROM ME

I. Honoring God in one area of life does not justify being unfaithful in other areas.

———————————

II. 3 ways to know if you made the right decision:

  • Will I be glad I made this decision 24 hours from now? (hopefully yes)

  • Is this decision simply delaying the inevitable? (hopefully no)

  • Is this the decision I would have recommended someone else make if they were in this situation? (hopefully yes)

1 INTERESTING FACT

Penicillin was first called “mold juice”

In 1928, bacteriologist Alexander Fleming left a petri dish in his lab while he was on vacation—only to return and find that some liquid around the mold had killed the bacteria in the dish. This became the world’s first antibiotic, but before naming it penicillin, he called it “mold juice.”
